ANDREW WYETH (1917-2009) The greatest living American painter died a few days ago. Andrew Wyeth of the the consequential Wyeth clan passed on at 91. I certainly thought he was impressive especially in a post-post-modern world of art that often is sterile and
unthoughtful and more interested in shock then reaching an intellectual and emotional connection with a the wide berth of humanity. Wyeth wasn't one of those guys. He was crisp and fresh and heart-felt. The art world needs more like him and less of the abstract hooey that infests most wings of modern art museums.
